The Local Governance and Community Development Programme- Phase II (LGCDP-H) is a national programme which is being implemented by theMinistry of Federal Affairs and Local Development (MoFALD) and supported by various development partners. The overall objective of LGCDP-H is to contribute towards the national goal of poverty reduction. The programme focuses on effective, equitable and sustainable service delivery through community empowerment, capacity development and policy reform to improve local governance. The programme covers both the demand and supply side of local governance reform. LGCDP-II is seeking applications from qualified, talented and result oriented Nepalese citizens for the following positions:
Post Title: Geographical Information System GIS Specialist (NPPP H)
No. of position: One
Duty Station: Kathmandu
Duration: Annual contract and extended based on performance
Job responsibilities: The GIS Specialist is responsible for: providing technical support and input for the implementation of GIS-related activities undertaken through LGCDP II; provide backstopping support and technical guidance to the RCUs, DGEs/UGEs and ICT volunteers (at the local level) with respect to any GIS activities promoted by LGCDP II; assist in identifying capacity development activities for MoFALD officials in the area of GIS; assist to strengthen GIS in local bodies.
Qualifications and experiences required: Completion of Master degree in ICT, Civil Engineer, Geography, management or related field; At least 5 years' experience of working on GIS issues in Nepal; Demonstrated track record of delivering high quality reports on time; Experience of working in a national, government-managed, programme would be an advantage. Fluency in spoken and written in Nepali and English language
